Mr. Harry is an organized and tidy worker which is probably due to the nature of his job as a housekeeper. From the lengthy years of work experience in housekeeping, this has made him the practical person he is today. He handles problems quickly using his knowledge gathered from past experiences. Task committed, he will not stop something he started until it is finished.

Mr. Harry is very disciplined and strict when it comes to the rules and regulations of the hotel. He is always on time and he trains his staff to also be on time. He coordinates his crew with authority and is always consistent regarding the consequences for disobedience. He tries to guide them so they can work carefully, which are the important part of housekeeping. He would talk with his staff personally even outside the job. Mr. Gery has been with Sun Hotel for almost 20 years now and admires what he calls the “Sun Corporate Culture”, which is evidently seen in the way people help each other in order to reach a common goal. He mentioned that it was the strong sense of belonging in Sun Hotel that motivates people to cooperate and work together and which makes him enjoy his work.

While holding the position as Assistant Chief Accountant, Mr. Gery is also the Chairman of the Union here in Sun Hotel. He has proven his leadership skills by being able to make quick decisions as head of the Union and at times trusted to take charge when his superiors are absent. His critical position as someone playing dual role as Assistant Chief Accountant and as Labor Union Head in Sun as a whole makes him someone who acts as a very useful middleman. Mr. Deny is the type of worker who has high sense of responsibility. In his position as Assistant FO Manager, he is able to divide his concentration to do several tasks at a time. Aside from handling major duties, he also likes teaching and giving technical training as he puts much concern on people development. He encourages his supervisors to teach the staff and give them opportunity to conduct technical training on regular basis. Mr. Deny sees his work as something enjoyable. Being one of the ex- back office staff, he has modified his personality characteristics to serve guests and supervise frontliners.

Mr. Deny has good analytical and conceptual skill. He enjoys the time developing training modules, and applying theories and ideas when teaching his staff as well as handling his daily tasks and problems. He is also highly concerned about the accuracy and completeness of data. He is systematic and makes sure that all documents are put on file in neat and orderly manner. Mr. Christian Mengko prefers to do things one at a time and sees it to completion. He said that when he works, he likes to do it perfectly, while on the other hand, he was modest in saying that he is not the best amongst the Banquet Sales Managers. Although he projects the hard worker image, his main objective is to see his job done just like the others. It appears that Mr. Christian is only maintaining and servicing existing clients, which he inherited from his successor and does not really exert extra effort in searching or identifying new clients. When probed, he was not able to mention new clients initiated by him. There is an indication that he is a bit bored in his current position and may just be working for the sake of working. As Senior Sous Chef, Mr. Samy can handle several cooking tasks at the same time. He divides his concentration and efforts to be able to serve customers’ orders. He is already familiar with the food and menu in the main kitchen, and really knows it by heart. He enjoys cooking and is able to create and modify the ingredients of the food so that they become more tasty and appetizing. Thus, he seems to regards work as something enjoyable, like that of a hobby.

Mr. Samy works according to basic recipes in the main kitchen menu. He is able to combine the basic menu with his past experience, so that the food can have better taste. He enjoys personally handling detailed tasks and is concerned about its accuracy and completeness. As a cook, he always makes sure that all ingredients are complete to be able to prepare the dishes as the order comes. He does not seem to mind an untidy set up, as he claims that sometimes cooking can be messy especially when he has to be quick to cook then serve. Mr. Torres does not project a dominant leader. He apparently does not have either much eagerness to dominate others or intention to use a formal line of authority to give instructions to his staff. Rather, he uses his social skills specifically, his soft personal approach when leading people. In other words, when he needs assistance from his staff, he tends to be careful and requests in such a way that he does not come across as a demanding person who is vigorous and forceful. This approach has worked well with his subordinates, both from his and other departments, because they can easily follow his instructions. He also narrated that when his peers encountered difficulties dealing with their own subordinates, they would ask Mr. Torres for help; as a result, resistance problems were resolved immediately.
